SoftRAID volume safeguards protect you from accidentally destroying a volume which contains files that you need. When you enable the safeguard on a volume, SoftRAID prevents you from doing anything to the volume’s disks which would destroy the volume. For example, you cannot initialize or certify a disk if any of the volumes on that disk contain a safeguard. SoftRAID also prevents you from deleting or erase a volume with a safeguard.
Users can enable/disable the SafeGuard at any time. There is no data risk to making this change. Just select the volume tile and in the Volumes Menu pulldown, select “Enable Safeguard” or “Disable Safeguard. Sometimes you need to quit/relaunch SoftRAID Application to see the SafeGuard status change.
Disabling Safeguard has no impact during normal volume usage. However, you only need to disable it if performing actions that could delete your data, such as erasing or deleting a volume, initializing disks, or running certification processes.
