Does SoftRAID support encrypted volumes?

Does SoftRAID support encrypted volumes?

Mac: Yes, SoftRAID supports encrypted APFS volumes, although indirectly. Any SoftRAID APFS volume can be erased in Disk Utility as APFS Encrypted.

Important: Encryption requires an APFS volume. You cannot convert a SoftRAID HFS+ volume to APFS. You will need to first back up your data, delete the HFS+ volume, recreate it as APFS, then erase it in Disk Utility as Encrypted APFS.

Performance note: HDD RAID 4 and RAID 5 volumes are currently unacceptably slow when encrypted. We are working on this issue. Flash media (SSDs/NVMe) performs well with encryption regardless of RAID type.

Windows: Encrypted NTFS volumes are fully supported.
