If you see a “Failed to activate driver” error when launching OWC Dock Ejector, it means the app is not located in your Mac’s Applications folder. macOS requires apps that use system extensions to be installed in the Applications folder — Dock Ejector cannot activate its driver from any other location.
The most common cause is launching Dock Ejector directly from the downloaded disk image (.dmg) or from another location such as your Downloads or Desktop folder.
To resolve this issue, follow the steps below.
- 1. Quit OWC Dock Ejector if it is currently open.
- 2. Open Finder and navigate to your Applications folder.
- 3. If OWC Dock Ejector is already listed in the Applications folder, drag it to the Trash and empty the Trash.
- 4. Open the Dock Ejector disk image (.dmg) you downloaded. If you no longer have it, you can download Dock Ejector here.
- 5. Drag the OWC Dock Ejector icon into your Applications folder.
- 6. Open OWC Dock Ejector from your Applications folder.
- 7. When prompted, allow the system extension in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
OWC Dock Ejector is now installed correctly and ready to use.
