How do I uninstall SoftRAID?

Uninstalling SoftRAID on macOS (Ventura 13.3 and later)

SoftRAID includes a built-in uninstaller that removes all SoftRAID components from your Mac.

  • Launch SoftRAID
  • Go to Utilities menu → Uninstall All SoftRAID Components
  • Enter your administrator password when prompted
  • Allow the uninstaller to complete

This removes SoftRAID Monitor, preferences, settings, and all related components.

Once complete, you may also delete the SoftRAID application from your Applications folder by dragging it to the Trash. The application is inactive unless you launch it, so there is no urgency to remove it — but if you want a clean uninstall, deleting it finishes the job.

Note: The SoftRAID driver cannot be removed. As of macOS Ventura (13.3), the SoftRAID driver is bundled directly into macOS by Apple and is not a component that SoftRAID installs or controls. This is normal — it has no impact on your system performance and does not run unless a SoftRAID volume is present.

macOS Monterey (12.x) and Earlier

On macOS Monterey and earlier, the uninstall process is the same — Utilities menu → Uninstall All SoftRAID Components — however, on these older macOS versions the SoftRAID driver was installed as a separate system extension rather than being bundled into macOS. The uninstaller will remove the driver along with all other components on these systems.

On these older macOS versions, you will also see two additional options in the Utilities menu:

  • Uninstall SoftRAID Driver — removes only the SoftRAID driver, leaving the rest of your SoftRAID installation intact
  • Reinstall SoftRAID Driver — reinstalls only the driver, without affecting any other SoftRAID components

These options are useful if you are troubleshooting a driver issue and do not want to perform a full uninstall.

Uninstalling SoftRAID on Windows

To uninstall SoftRAID for Windows, follow these steps:

  • Open Settings
  • Click Apps
  • Select Installed Apps (or Apps & Features on Windows 10)
  • Find SoftRAID and click on the three dots
  • Click Uninstall
  • Follow the prompts to complete the removal
  • Restart your computer when finished

A restart is required to fully remove the SoftRAID driver.

Note: If you no longer have the original setup file, you can download the latest version of SoftRAID for Windows and run it – the installer will still provide an Uninstall option if SoftRAID is already installed.

Your Data Is Not Affected

Uninstalling SoftRAID does not affect the data on your RAID volumes. On macOS Ventura (13.3) and later, SoftRAID volumes will continue to auto-mount on any Mac even without the SoftRAID application installed, because the SoftRAID driver is bundled into macOS by Apple. On Windows, the SoftRAID driver must be installed to mount volumes, but your data remains intact on the disks at all times.
