Does SoftRAID support SMART over USB?

Yes, SoftRAID 8 Premium supports SMART monitoring over USB for most USB enclosures.

SoftRAID 8 Premium

Compatibility: Most modern USB drives and enclosures are supported. However, some enclosures—particularly those using older USB controller chips—do not provide SMART data to macOS and therefore cannot report SMART status to SoftRAID.

How to check if your drive supports SMART: In the SoftRAID disk tiles, you will see SMART status showing “Passed test” if the drive is able to report SMART data to SoftRAID. If SMART data is unavailable, the status will indicate this.
